Wet or moisture-intensive environments can be particularly harsh on industrial roller chain performance and longevity.
MAXCO Chain Aqua-Series II precision roller chains offer superior corrosive protection: up to 30 times higher than conventional nickel-plated products. Our chain is also more economical than stainless steel, providing corrosion protection with carbon steel strength and at an affordable price.
Aqua-Series II precision chain features a unique Hexavalent Chromium Free mechanical rust prevention system that utilizes a ROHS-compliant zinc-alloy-iron coating. The resulting film is highly durable — so it won’t chip, flake, peel or rust in mildly corrosive applications.
The ultimate strength and working load ratings for Aqua-Series II precision roller chains are the same as those of carbon steel chains. Also, the potential occurrence of hydrogen embrittlement is eliminated.
Carbon steel, nickel-plated, Dip-Spin Zinc Chromate, and Aqua-Series II roller chains were submerged in and out of an aerated 5% saltwater solution (equivalent to seawater) for 14 days.
After two weeks, both the carbon steel and nickel-plated chains exhibited substantial rust. The chain joints froze stiff, which made the chain difficult to flex.
Meanwhile, rust developed on the Dip-Spin Zinc Chromate chain where the bushing is press-fitted into the link plate. Eventually, this rust will spread underneath the plated surface, which will reduce the chain’s life.
The Aqua-Series II chains developed virtually no rust, nor was there any chipping, flaking, or peeling. This makes these chains ideal for mildly corrosive, moisture-related applications such as wash-down lines on conveyors and outdoor service uses.
MAXCO Chain Aqua-Series II chain provides greater strength and significantly more corrosion resistance, thereby extending chain life and reducing downtime and required maintenance.
